Beautiful porch bench

You need to CLICK on this one to see the beauty of the construction of this bench!  It looks like the people who live here really care about their bench!

Utility bench

This small bench  on the side of the house might come in handy when working in the flower beds near it.

Chest porch bench

When I saw this bench, this is all I could see of it.  I got brave and went into the yard to take a better view and am glad I did. . . and that no one came outside to chase me off. Nice bench on the old house porch.

Bench for angels only. . .

If you CLICK on the photo, it will enlarge so you can see the angels.  This beautiful bench is full so no room for you. . . unless you are an angel too!

Leaves and berries bench

I found this one walking back from the train station (near the court house)  recently.  My camera will do point and shoot without any extension of lens or choice of time before clicking click photo.  It just snaps away!  I was glad I carried it this trip anyway. . . CLICK on to enlarge if you want to see the engraved design better.

Bail bonds bench

This golfer bench is the second one I have found -- the other one was in a lady's yard in another area of town.  This one was across from the jail at the bail bonds place.  Looks worn but still very useable.

Hospice Home benches

I passed these benches each day I went to visit my friend, Myrl, on her last days on earth. . . these two were in the corner before the hallway to her room. The next one was actually in the entrance as I came through the front door and started down the hall. . . the last two photos show the garden area outside in which visitors could stroll while visiting their loved ones on the last days. . .

Benches through the doorway . . .

Found these two benches in a  little coffee shop while walking around for the Art Walk.  I don't think I would enjoy sitting around that tiny table on them tho.

Friday, October 22, 2010

Both of these shots are NOT a photographer's dream . . . but it was the only way I could capture the bench in the display window. . . thus, the background  furniture. etc for sale and the reflection of cars parked on the street and the buildings on the opposite side of the street also.  Ignore that and look at this wonderfully made church pew.  Orange was a very popular color in churches in the '70's. . . It would look great in a  long hallway with lots of space around it!

Another consignment store bench

Not many benches I find are of this dark, rich color.  I don't think the pillows went with the bench as they have separate price tags on them.  With a nicely curved back, it doesn't need pillows to be comfortable. . .

Bench near art studio during art walk

This beautiful bench is usually inside.  I guess they had too much art to display and placed it outside to encourage people to rest a bit after they enjoyed the art work?  The bench seating area opens up for storage.

Friend's mini bench

This mini bench belongs to my friend, Dorothy who lives in the same apartment building as I.  It is simple but a cute bench for dolls.

Outside the Theater Bench

I presume this bench is for waiting until the box office opens. . . I found it  an odd shape but it's a place to rest if needed.

Bamboo Benches

These two bamboo benches were in the building where exotic animals like tigers and lions and all kinds of snakes were on display. They look very similar but I liked the light colored one best.

Foldable picture bench

This simple style bench folds up and packs away easily.  The seat goes up and the two backs just slide together.  The carnival people at the Clark County Fair brought several with them.  They were always filled with people so it took me many tries to finally get an empty one. Well, almost empty . . .

Metal bench lacking cushions . . .

This beautifully designed bench definitely needs cushions!  I wish I had a big house where I could "rescue" these special benches from consignment shops and place a lovely cushioned seat on it to bring out its beauty and make it a lovely place to sit and rest, chat or do nothing.  I would not  cover up the back with cushions, just the seat portion . . .

Bench for Flowers. . .

The contrast between the old bench and the beautiful hanging baskets is perfect for each other!  Had they painted the bench, the old rustic look would disappear and the flowers just be ordinary.

Exquisite carvings in wooden bench

Found this bench over in Stevenson in Skamania County at a re-sale place.  It beckoned to me to look inside but no more benches there! If you click on this one, you will see more detail of the back of the bench which I was attracted to in the first place.

Old double bed frame/door bench

I was over in Skamania County when I spotted this unique bench. . . good use of old materials! Not everyone would think of using an old bed for a bench.  Not sure how comfortable that door frame might be but handy when one needs a place to sit!

Hospital chapel benches

I know these photos both have way too much light from the chapel so the photos don't show off the beautiful benches as well as I could see them but I still wanted to share them.  (Maybe because it brings memories of visiting my friend, Myrl, not long ago in the hospital.  She has gone to heaven now. . .

Round hospital benches

These round things in the hospital are also benches.  Looks like one can get close together sitting there!  Saved these round ones to  put on this special date of 10-10-10.  Ü

Hospital entrance benches

These benches line the entrance at the Firstenberg Tower part of the hospital.  Although they look like you just sit on the lower portions, the whole things is cushioned and available for seating.

Hospital hall bench

I have no idea why they are shaped like this but each floor on this wing of the hospital has several of these on your way to the patients' rooms.  Maybe there is a significance in the shape but I have no idea.

Backless wooden slat curved bench

The curved slats of this bench make it a comfortable place to sit. Because they are painted green and curved, one almost misses the beauty of the structure below. The colors blend in well with the surrounding walls and color scheme.

Adult bench with beautiful iron arms. . .

The way the vegetation has grown up around the bench makes it feel complete -- It is not a bench for small people as they would fall through the back sooooooooo, only adults or large kids please! Look at the ironwork on the arms and legs! Looks so peaceful, a place I would enjoy sitting for a spell!

The frog prince and princess' bench. . .

They enjoy the bench just their size made from ash from when Mt. St. Helens erupted not long ago. I think it might be better if they moved a little closer. . . what do you think?

Long bench with flower upholstery beaded design

This beautiful bench, I found in an antique store. That's why all the other things around it on the floor. It's unusual with the wooden bead spindles and partial upholstery. If I could, I would have made armrests with the beadsand padded upholstered arms also.

Hiding amongst the shadows. . .

Almost missed this lovely but simple bench, sitting against the boards of the house in the shadows. I wonder why they placed it there? It deserves a more prominent spot!

For the birds!

Saw these at the Farmers Market here in Vancouver. The artist made all kinds of things from wood but, these were my favorite. The perfect bench for a bird lover!

Bench of perfection . . .

This bench is so beautiful and perfectly placed in the outdoors on a porch with a beautiful trellis and plants growing all around. How could anyone not feel it's inviting look?
